Discover the city beneath a glass roof too.
A short walk from the Grand-Place, the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert change the pace of your stroll. Their project took shape in the 1830s, before an official opening in 1847. Since the beginning, its shops, cafés and cultural venues have made this arcade a meeting place for the city.
Jean-Pierre Cluysenaer designed a complex combining shops, performance spaces and apartments. The galleries later attracted writers, artists and strollers, from Victor Hugo to the surrealists. Walk through at your leisure: their appeal lies as much in the architecture as in the long history of encounters between culture and everyday life.
Combine this walk with a visit to the Grand-Place, moving from a broad open space to the intimacy of a covered arcade.
