Place Saint-Géry centres on the former market halls, inaugurated in 1882 on a site previously occupied by a church. The building combines a Flemish Neo-Renaissance exterior with an interior structure using metal and glass. The market closed in 1977; since 1999, the Halles have housed a centre devoted to Brussels’ heritage and living environment. A walk on the square and seeing an indoor exhibition are different visits.
